Health camp conducted

Focus on prevention: Women and children at the medical camp organised at Veerapandi in Tirupur on Sunday. —

Tirupur: Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore, in association with Muyarchi, an NGO, and Revathi Hospital, Tirupur, conducted a medical camp exclusively for women and children at Veerapandi on Sunday.

Of the total 168 women screened, 14 were detected with breast and other types of cancers.

Sources said that patients detected with lumps on breast and aged over 40 years were asked to undergo mammography, while those below 40 years were advised to identify whether the growth was malignant through fine needle aspiration cytology procedure. A total of 128 children were screened in the camp. Earlier, K. Thangaraj, chairman of Tirupur panchayat union, inaugurated the event.
