MLA, Sub-Collector launch the programme City divided into 38 zones VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) organised pulse polio immunisation programme in the city on Sunday. Vijayawada (West) MLA Sheik Nasar Vali and Sub-Collector Gaurav Uppal launched the programme by administering polio drops to children at Sheik Rajasaheb Maternity Hospital in Kothapeta. On the occasion, Mr. Uppal said that the city was divided into 38 zones, and 384 centres were opened for administering polio drops. Apart from this, railway station, bus station and Durga temple were some of the places where special centres were functioning to reach maximum number of children in the age group of 0-5 years, he said adding that door-to-door campaign would be taken up in next three days. Mr. Nasar Vali said that the government was organising special pulse polio drive in nine districts. Call to parentsThe people should make use of the opportunity and get their children vaccinated, he said. Local corporators Mahadev Appaji and Boya Satya Babu, VMC chief medical officer M. Satyanarayana Raju, health officers Kolli Srikaruna Murthy and B. Sridevi, biologist P. V. Rama Rao and others were present.
