Okolie stars in Churchill’s win

Margao: Odafe Okolie scored a goal in each half to end Sporting Clube de Goa’s dream run when Churchill brothers thrashed it 3-0 in the ONGC I-League football match, played at Nehru Stadium, here on Sunday.

Churchill which led 1-0 at half time scored through Odafe Okolie (15th, 54th) and Thokchom Naoba Singh (68th).

Churchill, now has collected seven points from three matches.

While, Sporting Clube de Goa which suffered its first defeat remained on nine points from four matches.

Churchill controlled the match throughout with the midfield striking a good rhythm along with its strikers where Odafe Okolie posed threat whenever he had the ball possession and put his team up in the 15th minute.

A move from the right saw Robert relaying a forward pass to Okolie from the middle. Okolie, then got the better of a rival defender before unleashing a firm grounder that beat the rival keeper Felix Ssouza to his right. — PTI
