BANGALORE: A gang of five boarded the Bangalore-Mysore passenger train in the early hours of Sunday and looted jewellery and valuables worth Rs. 95,000 from five passengers. The accused also stabbed a passenger before taking away his finger-ring. The incident occurred at Kengeri Junction around 3.45 a.m. According to the railway police, the gang was armed with knife and sickles. The gang members threatened the passengers and took away gold, cash and mobile phones from them. “According to the passengers, around 1 a.m., the accused boarded a compartment at Mandya Junction. When the train stopped at Kengeri, they attacked the passengers and demanded money and valuables. When Narasimha Shetty, a resident of Bangalore, resisted, they attacked him with a knife. This caused fear among other passengers. Later, the accused took away ornaments and snatched mobile phones from five passengers,” the officer said. “Mr. Shetty has lodged a complaint, and we are investigating. We will form a team to trace the gang members,” said a senior railway police officer.
