BHUBANESWAR: The ninth edition of the Rajdhani Book Fair will get underway at the Exhibition Ground in the capital from December 5 to 16. Announcing the details, fair organising committee president Upendra Kumar Jena said that a large number of publishers and booksellers across India have expressed their interest to participate in this 12-day fair. “Since preservation and promotion of Oriya language and literature has been the thrust of the fair this year, Oriya language publishers will be offered preference in allotment of stalls,” he added. Committee Secretary Bidhubhusan Patnaik informed that a number of literary and cultural programmes are being chalked out for each evening . It includes poetry recitation session, seminars on Oriya literature, humour writers’ meet, children writers’ conference and book releases, he said. While writers of Oriya books in 12 categories published during 2006 to 2008 would be awarded , the best publisher participating in the fair would be felicitated, he added. The visitor buying maximum number of Oriya books would be awarded this year, announced the President.
