Eko Vehicles wins contest

BANGALORE: Bangalore-based Eko Vehicles has won the Confederation of Indian Industries’ environment-friendly business case presentation competition.

Eko vehicles was one of the 10 finalists at the third Annual Investor Forum 2008 in Mumbai on October 16 and 17 and was awarded the Best Business Plan Certificate, according to a release from Eko. The event was sponsored by New Ventures India Ltd., CII, USAID, British High Commission and World Resources Institute.

The company was established in January 2005 with test launch of battery operated two-wheelers.

Between 2005 and 2006, the vehicles were commercially launched in select States. The company said that more than 15,000 vehicles are on the roads while production facilities have been set up in Bangalore and Hyderabad. Eko Vehicles is promoted by Anil Ananthakrishnan who has been involved with EV technology for over three decades.
