NEW DELHI: The first trade consignment will be flagged off at 9.30 a.m. from Uri in Kashmir region by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra. Trade from Rawalkote in Jammu region will start from October 28. While traders in Kashmir will be using the Uri-Muzaffarabad land route, the Jammu region traders will have to take the Poonch-Rawalkote Road route. The Indian side would be putting in plan land custom stations at Salamabad in district Baramulla and Chakkan-Da-Bagh in Poonch district. Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh said his Ministry had already released Rs. 5 crore for setting up infrastructure facilities along the LoC, including permanent custom terminal and more funds would be released as and when required. Handicrafts, dry fruitsItems to be traded from India to Pakistan from Salamabad to Chakoti and Chakan-Da-Bagh to Rawalkote include carpets, rugs, wall hangings, shawls and stoles, namdas, gabbas, embroidered items including crewel, furniture including walnut furniture, wooden handicrafts, fresh fruits and vegetables, dry fruits including walnuts, saffron, aromatic plants, fruit-bearing plants, dhania, moongi, imli and black mushrooms, Kashmir spices, rajma, honey, papier mache products, spring, rubberised coir/foam mattresses, cushions, pillows and quilts and medicinal herbs.
