Prof. P. Sambamoorthy, Head of the Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, has accepted the invitation of the French National Music Committee to participate in the Round-Table conference on the subject of “The Universe of Music and its different cultures.” This conference, organised by the International Music Council, will be held in Paris between October 24 and 30 in co-operation with the Institute of Musicology of Paris University and under the auspices of the President of the French Republic and UNESCO. Musicologists are attending the conference at which Prof. P. Sambamoorthy, who will represent India, will expound the raga and tala systems of Indian music.
