ECIL over the moon
As the Chandrayan-I soared into the October sky, marking country’s first foray into deep space research, the general public in Hyderabad heaved a great sigh of relief and prayed for its success in the ensuing days, when the mission will go closer to the moon. The research and scientific pool of Hyderabad too has contributed to Chandrayan-I in a great number of ways. In fact, Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), Hyderabad played a pivotal role by constructing the deep space antenna to receive signals from the mission.
Apart from ECIL, there are a few researchers at National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) who will be working on the data collected from the mission to study the existence of minerals in the moon’s surface.
