Teenage girl ends life

Correspondent

CUTTACK: A 17-year-old girl died on Friday in a private hospital where she was admitted two days ago. The teenaged girl of Ramnagar village under Cuttack Sadar police station had consumed poison on Wednesday night reportedly after a boy of the neighbourhood made an attempt to rape her.

The girl’s brother had lodged a complaint to the police, who are investigating the matter after registering a case under section 376 of IPC. Police have now detained a youth of the locality and quizzing him in connection with the case. Locals and police are claiming that the accused youth and the victim girl had an affair and they had established physical relationship. “On the night of the incident, the girl’s brother came to know about the alleged relationship of his sister with the boy. This had shocked the girl to such an extent that she preferred to take the extreme step”, say the local policemen.
