‘COOL’ ATTEMPT: A student performing fire dance at K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College in Tiruchi.

TIRUCHI: Shoving aside stethoscopes and coats, the doctors-in-making put on their dance shoes, adding colour to the campus of K. A. P. Viswanatham Government Medical College.

Scherzando ’08, the annual cultural event of the college was made bigger their year with quite a few add-ons in the list.

With a distinctive slug line – ‘Never before, never again’ – tagged to it, the event had something interesting for every student.

Be it a solo dance, where budding medicos flaunted their dancing talents on stage, or mime show, which attracted out-of-the-box ideas, the students made sure their creativity was given a thorough workout.

In all, 36 events lined up on two days and the curtains were drawn down on Friday with an impressive fashion parade.

Chicly dressed medical students sashayed down the ramp and the background score added spice.

Fashion parade at the medical college is not just about contemporary and western. Even the traditional way of draping saris was brought alive by the girls, even as their male counterparts looked at ease sporting dhotis to match the theme.

Stunning designs

Western wear theme, not surprisingly, was filled with cool shades and stunning designs.

From tapered jeans to jazzy tunics, girls gave a glimpse of the outfits that are doing the rounds in the city.

Folk and western dance, skit, ‘admad,’ singing, quiz, rangoli, poetry, face painting, drawing and game shows rounded off the two-day show.

Rolling shield

The batch of ’06, the present second year batch, got better of their seniors and juniors to win the rolling shield.

Dean of K. A. P. Viswanatham Government Medical College P. Ravishankar presided over the valediction and Dean of Perambalur Medical College N. Balasubramanian distributed prizes to the winners.
