‘Pavithrotsavam’ at Srinivasa Mangapuram

Ceremonial rite: Priests carrying ’Pavithrams’ ahead of performing the ritual at Kalyana Venkateswara temple near Tirupati on Saturday.
TIRUPATI: ‘Pavithrotsavam,’ the three-day purification festival began at Sri Kalyana Venkateswara temple at Srinivasa Mangapuram near here on Friday. A celestial bath was given to the deities of Lord Kalyana Venkateswara and consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi. ‘Pavithrams’, the colourful sacred threads to be adorned to the deities as a mark of purification, were taken out in a procession at the temple on the second day on Saturday. The event will come to a grand close on Sunday.
Deputy E.O. (local temples) A. Vasudevan, Superintendent Rammurthy Reddy were among those present.
