Defacement of public property

New Delhi: Acting tough, Delhi Police have registered 50 cases for defacement of public property by pasting posters and putting up banners and hoardings in the past 11 days after the model code of conduct was enforced in poll-bound Delhi. With the announcement of Delhi Assembly elections, joint teams of police, MCD and Election Office have started removing hoardings, banners and posters as well as writing on walls and registering cases. “We have registered 50 cases in this regard since the model code of conduct came into force,” Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said. The work of removing posters, banners and hoardings has started and since Thursday, over 1,000 posters, hoardings and banners have been removed in Rohini, Narela, Civil Zones and South Delhi, an official of the Election Office said.
