A Deepavali gift
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: As part of their yearly Deepavali celebrations, Asaktha Poshaka Sabha, a home for the aged, destitute people and orphaned children, distributed new clothes to the inmates: 165 senior citizens and 60 orphaned children.
The clothes were distributed by Hemachandra Sagar, Chickpet MLA, on Friday on the premises of the home.
B.L.S. Murthy, president of the Sabha, said, “We distribute clothes to the inmates of our homes three times a year — on Ugadi, Deepavali and Varalakshmi Puja.”
The sabha provides food, shelter and medical assistance to those who are unwanted by their families and also those who have none.
