Gold gilding for Kanipakam, Vemulawada temples

TIRUPATI: After the Tirumala Venkateswara temple, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) management has decided to extend its expertise to provide gold gilding to the walls of Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka temple at Kanipakam (Chittoor district) and Sri Rajarajeswara temple at Vemulawada (Karimnagar district).

The TTD will only act as a coordinator and provide technical skills, the respective temples will mobilise funds. Of the estimated cost of Rs.7 crore, the Vemulawada temple has already received Rs.1 crore through public contribution.

A 100-room guest house will be constructed after pulling down the TTD’s dilapidated choultry premises.

For those contributing gold weighing 1 kg and above, the board has announced to provide special facilities at Tirumala, on a par with donors of Rs.10 lakh. The TTD has already received a commitment for 36 kg of gold for the project at Tirumala. The TTD Trust Board, which met at Tirumala on Saturday with the chairperson D.K. Audikesavulu in the chair, decided to build another 100-room accommodation near the Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy temple on the banks of Godavari in Dharmapuri. The Lakshmi Venkateswara temple in Devunikadapa (Kadapa district) will be renovated at a cost of Rs.1.65 crore.

The board has agreed to the proposal to lend Rs.3 crore as ‘interest-free loan’ to the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati for providing additional facilities and civic amenities to the pilgrims. After providing house sites to 5,000 employees, the management has announced building of apartments near SGS Arts College and Vinayaka Nagar for 4,000 more eligible employees.

The management also sanctioned a cement concrete road from Tiruchanur Tholappa gardens to Mullapudi village across the Swarnamukhi river.

A welcome arch will also be constructed near the Chandragiri clock tower and the road leading to Srivari Mettu, the second footpath route to Tirumala, would be widened.
