MYSORE: A brace by left-extreme K.C. Subbaiah (sxith & 10th min.) and a goal each by Ponnacha (20th), Nikin Thimmiah (42nd) and Rathan Muthanna (46th), helped Bangalore South to register a 5-1 win over Bangalore North and claim the boys title in the State-level Pre-University hockey tournament conducted by DDPI Mysore and organised by Sadvidya College at the University grounds here on Saturday. Centre-forward S.K. Uthappa reduced the margin for the losersin the 31st minute . In the girls’ section, Kodagu dethroned the defending champion Mysore 2-0 and bagged the title. Right-in M.B. Trupthi (32nd) and Centre-forward Chitra (42nd min.) were the scorers. The results: Boys: Final: Bangalore (South) bt Bangalore (North) 5-1; Semi-finals: Bangalore (North) bt Madikeri 7-6 (via tie-breaker); Bangalore (South) bt Mangalore 7-0. Quarterfinals: Bangalore (N) bt Mysore 3-1; Bangalore (S) bt Dharwad 7-0; Kodagu bt Bellary 2-0; Mangalore bt Gadag 2-1. Girls: Final: Kodagu bt Mysore 2-0; Semifinals: Kodagu bt Davnagere 6-0; Mysore bt Bellary 4-0; Quarterfinals: Kodagu bt Bangalore 7-0; Bellary bt Bijapur 4-0.
