A special day for oldest military school

Solan (H.P.): The country’s oldest military school, Rashtriya Military School at Chail, celebrated its 83rd Annual Day on Saturday.

The school has a rich legacy of producing several great defence personnel in its 83 years of existence. Param Vir Chakra recipient Gurbachan Singh Salaria and Lt.-General R.S. Dayal, a Mahavir Chakra winner, are among the alumni of this school.

Brigadier K. Majumdar, Commander of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh sub area, applauded the meritorious service rendered by the school to the nation.

Principal V. K. Bhatt said the school had sent students on several trekking expeditions to train them for hardship in line with requir- ements of the defence force.

Founded in 1925, the school is nestled in the majestic Chail valley in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. - PTI
