Poor editing mars prospects

Film: Kasipatnam Choodarababu

Cast: Vijay, Suprerna

Direction: Maddirala

Set against the backdrop of a village in Rajahmundry called Kasipatnam, the film follows the story of the hero, Vijay, who challenges his father Tanikella Bharani that in a span of 30 days, he would earn Rs. 30 lakh and marry Suprerna. Bharani, a miser fixes Vijay’s and Suprerna’s wedding as the latter’s father J.P. Reddy promises a dowry and later retracts. Bharani is lured by Banerjee’s wealth and promises to make Vijay, his son-in-law. Vijay now leaves home to achieve his goal, will he reach his target figure within the stipulated time or not forms the crux of the story. The lead characters are introduced much later in the film and the director weaves most of the lines around Tanikella Bharani and Krishna Baghwan.

Bharani’s character doesn’t evoke any interest as we have seen Kota Srinivasa Rao play the same parsimonious character in a much better way and in his inimitable style in ‘Aahana Pellanta’. If Brahmanandam was his stooge in that film, Namala Murthy plays Bharani’s sidekick but with little or no amusement. Jayalalita plays a homely and subjugated housewife and it doesn’t look realistic that she is mother to Venu Madhav and Vijay.

The film fails to keep you glued as the plot is not revealed and the audience is clueless as to what the film is about till the interval.

Dialogues are stale and music uninteresting. The saving grace is the lead pair, presentable and pull out a fairly decent performance. Bad screenplay and poor editing will mar the prospects of the film.
