ZP Chairman injured in road accident

Kakinada: District Congress Committee president and Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch. Venugopala Krishna was injured in a road accident near Peddapuram when he was going to Rajahmundry by his official vehicle on Monday. His driver M. Venkateswara Rao, gunman Israel Raju and another person Ch. Edukondalu were also injured.

Mr. Venugopala Krishna was discharged after being treated at the government hospital at Peddapuram where he was admitted after the accident. The driver swerved the vehicle to left side of the road to avoid a head-on collision with a motorcycle when three youths going on it tried to overtake a lorry.

The youths – G. Satish, Nazar and Vidya Sagar – were seriously injured after hitting the ZP Chairman’s vehicle from behind. They were admitted to Government General Hospital in Kakinada. The condition of one of them is said to be critical.

Peddapuram Circle-Inspector Y. Nagadurga Rao is investigating.
