Compensation for rescued child labourers

SANGAREDDY: Deputy Commissioner of Labour, J. Nageswara Rao, on Wednesday awarded complete payment to the child labourers rescued from the Priayadarshini Spinning Mills at Sadasivapet in Medak district. The amount varied from Rs. 37,000 to Rs. 40,000 to each of the girl child who worked in the mill. The agreement signed by the children would expire from Wednesday. The mill management also accepted to pay the earned leaves amount plus bonus to children who worked in the mill for the past three years.
While Rs. 2,000 was paid in the form of cash, remaining amount was handed over in the form of cheque. He also promised to look into all the remaining issues pertaining to child labour.
National Child Labour Project director G Buchiraju, assistant commissioner of labour Abdul Sayed, Sadasivapet mandal tahasildar Kishan, CITU leader A Manikyam and others participated in the programme.
