This Day That Age
A model of a new Universal Time Clock has been made by a local watch repairer in Madras, Mr. S.T. Ali. It is a double-dialled clock showing the time in 50 different parts of the world simultaneously with the time in Madras. It is more or less square in shape, about two feet tall and has two dials. The dial on the right is stationary and gives the standard time in Madras. The other dial on the left is capable of so moving that it shows the hour in different world centres. A red “universal” minute hand on the right dial indicates the minutes past the hour in various places shown on the left dial. Mr. Ali made a “Taher World Clock” in 1940 to indicate time in 88 different places but it was unwieldy in size and shape.
