KOTTAYAM: Defending champion Thiruvananthapuram women’s team moved a step closer to the semifinals after it defeated Ernakulam 65-41 in a Group ‘A’ match of the State Senior basketball championships at the Nehru stadium here on Wednesday. In the men’s section, Kannur defeated Palakkad 93-81 in extra-time to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group ‘D’. Pathanamthitta defeated Kozhikode 59-41 to make the grade from Group ‘B’.
