Engineering student drowned

BAPATLA: A Civil Engineering student of Siddhartha Engineering College, Vijayawada, Paladagu Ranjith, drowned in the sea at Suryalanka beach here on Wednesday afternoon. The incident took place as a group of 11 students from the college were playing in the waters when a strong current pulled away the student. The body was fished out in the evening.

Bapatla Rural Sub Inspector T. Anjaneyulu cautioned people against swimming in the morning as strong currents might pull them away. He said the sea usually remains rough until 2 p.m. and the cycle of current changes every 12 hours. He added that the police had been cautioning the youth, against swimming during mid-day.
