Lecture series for budding advocates begins

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Justice A.K. Ganguly, Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, inaugurated a ‘University and Bench-Bar lecture series’ at a function organised by Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University here on Wednesday.

Justice Ganguly said the law was an ocean, whose expanse was widening daily. Now one could find a renewed interest in the justice delivery system. The world of law was fast changing, and the students needed to equip themselves to face the challenges. In every national and international aspect, the law had a vital role to play. The students should realise their importance and each had the potential to change the course of the country.

M. Jaichandren, Judge, Madras High Court, said the lecture series was nothing new; it was organised earlier too. But, in between, it was stopped. The lectures, however, were not substitutes for regular classes, he said.

A. Raghunadha Reddy, Dean, Research, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, said the lecture series was meant for budding lawyers. Having a mere theoretical background would not be useful, so a practical training in the form of a lecture series was started.

S. Sachidhanandam, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, and P. Vanangamudi, Dean, College Development Council, spoke.
