In view of the World Voluntary Blood Donation Day, a special blood donation camp was organised at the Government General Hospital here.

On the occasion, Mr. Senguttuvan urged the public to come forward to donate blood.

Collector V.K. Shanmugam presided over the meeting.

He said Krishnagiri district was second in the list of highest blood donors in Tamil Nadu.

Camps

As many as 46 blood donations camps were conducted last year and more than 1,660 people donated blood in these camps.

Nowadays, people were more aware about the need to donate blood.

They were turning up in large numbers to the camps conducted by the government and various non-governmental organisations in the district.

In this financial year, 24 blood donation camps had been conducted so far in which 918 people had donated blood, he added.

M.R. Rajendran, district panchayat president, donated blood in the camp.

The Collector gave away the certificates and plaques and honoured the NGOs, which conducted the highest number of blood donation camps in the district.
