MLA arrested

The AIADMK MLA R. Samy was arrested along with his supporters when they blocked traffic on the Madurai-Tiruchi highway at Melur on Thursday. According to the police, 185 AIADMK volunteers, led by the MLA, resorted to picketing near the bus stand in protest against the attack on the convoy of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at Pasumpon in Ramanathapuram district. The Melur police have registered a case.
