Youth brings laurels to fort town
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: People of this fort town are delighted to find Karanam Durga Prasad, a local youth, as a member of the data analysis team of Chandrayaan-I, the spacecraft launched successfully on October 22. The 27-year-old says: “God has given me the opportunity. It was unexpected.”
While working as an Assistant Professor with Maharajah’s Post-Graduate College here, he took interest in the space science. He presented a paper on ‘Modelling Studies of De-region Ionosphere’ at the National Space Science Symposium held in Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, in 2006 and interacted with the Chandrayaan group that participated in the symposium.
Motivation
His motivation, interest and zeal got him selected as a Project Associate for Planetary Science and Exploration Programme (Planex) workshop held at Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad, last year.
Mr. Durga Prasad, who did his M.Sc (electronics) from Andhra University and M. Phil from JNTU, Hyderabad, worked on Wireless Sensor Networks (potential tools for detection of water on moon).
Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy, MLA, congratulated him and offered a bouquet on his achievement.
