HYDERABAD: N. Shivlal Yadav, the secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association, was felicitated at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) here on Thursday night on being elected vice-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Speaking on the occasion, he expressed a strong desire to see that the HCA actually bought the entire 23-acre land on which the stadium was built, instead of continuing to have a lease agreement with the State Government. “I realised the biggest dream of my career when, during my secretaryship, I saw this magnificent Rajiv Gandhi Stadium come up. Now, there cannot be a better proposition in the interests of Hyderabad cricket than HCA actually owning the entire land on which the stadium and other related facilities have come up,” Shivlal said in his reply to the felicitations. And to his delight, the response from the State Government was prompt. “We don’t think that the issue of Government selling the land outright to HCA should be a major problem as the request is in the interest of the sport.” HDGA office-bearersThe Hyderabad District Gymnastic Association elected a new body of office-bearers for a period of four years at AP Olympic Bhavan here.
