TERROR AT NIGHT: Clues teams inspecting the car in which an auto financier Rajiv Sisodia was shot dead at Banjara Hills on Friday night.

HYDERABAD: Unidentified persons shot dead a financier, Rajeev Sisodia, in front of his house at the posh Naveennagar on Road no. 1 of Banjara Hills on Friday night.

Motive or persons behind the killing was not yet known even as police probed the case from all angles, including whether it was a consequence of personal animosity or a murder for gain.

None saw the 36-year-old businessman being shot, but police said the wounds on Sisodia’s scalp and mouth indicated that killers fired at him from close range.

Sisodia’s family and some close relatives live in a multi-storied Paras building. “As the calling bell rang continuously around 7 p.m., all of us ran down only to see Sisodia lying dead in his car driving seat,” the victim’s father Bahadur Mal Sisodia told reporters.

The Maruti Zen car door at the driving seat was open.

The financier’s bent head was touching the road. Police suspect the killers shot Sisodia when he reached his home and was about to get down. Passers-by alerted inmates of the house by pressing the buzzer. They rushed him to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Vehicle finance business

Hyderabad Police Additional Commissioner, Co-ordination, Krishna Raju, visited the spot. Sisodia was into vehicle finance business. His office was located in Purani Haveli. Before starting from his office, he spoke to his father and other family members over phone. “He did not sound tensed up or worried about anything then,” the victim’s father said.

Police said the killers apparently lay in wait, shot him as soon as his car arrived and fled the spot.
