A new controversy at AMU
NEW DELHI: Appointment of a central purchase committee by Aligarh Muslim University without approval of the varsity’s Executive Committee for purchase of high-tech security equipment has triggered a fresh controversy.
Several members of the Executive Committee, the apex decision-making body of the university, have expressed resentment over such action.
In a letter to the AMU Vice-Chancellor, six members of the Executive Committee have described the action as “illegal”. They have demanded a special meeting of the Executive Council to consider the desirability of going in for such a security arrangement.
“By-passing the authorities in this matter is a serious violation,” EC member Waseem Ahmad said on Friday.
