Enhancing expertise of computer science faculties

IMAGE PROCESSING: A workshop in progress at Subbiah Vidyalayam School in Tuticorin on Friday.

Tuticorin: Annammal College of Education for Women and Subbiah Vidyalayam Girls’ Higher Secondary School had jointly organized a workshop on image processing and virtual reality at Subbiah Vidyalayam Network Resource Centre on Friday.

The workshop was aimed at developing multimedia skills among computer science teachers to improve their expertise and professional skills. The module of the workshop focused on the application of skills in graphics and animation while preparing lessons.

The programme stressed the need for an informative and interesting learning environment with new technical software. It was designed to cater to the requirements of the teaching fraternity. A. Suruliyandi, Reader in Computer Science, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, inaugurated the workshop and delivered a lecture on Satellite and their applications.

A. Fiby Raj, Principal-in-charge, Annammal College of Education delivered the welcome address and D. Ganesan, gave the presidential address.

G. Sofia, Lecturer, Department of Computer Science, Lady Doak College, Madurai, and M. Mohammed Sathik, Reader in Computer Science, Sathakkathullah Appa College, Palayamkottai, were the resource persons. Topics on Image processing and virtual reality were covered.

R. Rajesh, Reader in Computer Science, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, delivered the valedictory address. About 100 faculty members of Computer Science from various colleges and schools in Tuticorin district participated. K.E. Valarmathi, P. Malarvizhi and P.Vasantha Jothi coordinated the programme.
