Shock and disbelief among software programmer’s relatives in A.P. village

Search on for techie, whose wife, children died

His brother suspects that he was abducted and killed

VUYYURU (KRISHNA DISTRICT): There was a sense of disbelief and disquiet among the relatives of Nerusu Lakshminivasa Rao, the Indian software programmer, who mysteriously disappeared from his home in Novi Township in Detroit in the U.S., after his wife and two children were found killed, here on Friday.

Novi Town Chief of Police David E. Molloy said in a press release that the officers, after receiving a call from a relative of the family, found Rao’s wife Jayalakshmi and her two children Tejasvi (14) and Shivkumar (12) in a pool of blood on the first floor of their residence in Wharton Court, 20 km from Detroit.

The release said that Lakshminivasa Rao, who lost his job recently, had caused grievous injuries on the head and neck areas of the victims.

Police identified him as “a person of interest” in the investigation and a search for his whereabouts was on. An international manhunt has been launched to nab him.

Back home in Krishna district, relatives on both sides are unable to believe that Lakshminivasa Rao could have resorted to this ghastly crime. Youngest of the six sons of retired Telugu teacher N. Koteswara Rao, Lakshminivasa Rao hails from Akunuru village near here.

He moved to the U.S. some 18 years ago. Koteswara Rao and two of his sons live in Gandigunta near here, while three sons, including Lakshminivasa Rao, live in the U.S. As the tragic news reached here on Deepavali day, Koteswara Rao left for Hyderabad, where his other son lives, and from there reportedly left for Detroit. Lakshminivasa Rao’s brother Sriramachandra Varaprasad, who is headmaster of a government school in Pamidimukkala in Krishna district, said: “My brother could not have committed this crime. As far as we know, he had no financial difficulties. We suspect he must have been kidnapped and killed.”

He also pointed out that there could be no strain in marital relations, as Jayalakshmi was Lakshminivasa Rao’s cousin.
