The country’s future: Students presenting a cultural programme on the occasion of AP Formation Day in Kurnool on Saturday. — ANANTAPUR: “Development of Andhra Pradesh as ‘Harithandhra Pradesh’ will be possible only if we stand united, Minister for Panchayat Raj J.C. Diwakar Reddy said here on Saturday during the State Formation Day celebrations. He asked people to rebut the efforts of anti-social elements who disturbed peace.Speaking after hoisting the national flag, the Minister said Telugu people had always exhibited unity and brotherhood during trying times. Expressing a sense of pride at the recognition of Telugu as a classical language he said people would remember the sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu for separate statehood for Telugu speaking people forever. Incentive for ryots He assured farmers who suffered crop loss this kharif of all help and stated that the farmers who were not covered under the loan waiver scheme would be given Rs. 5,000 incentive from November 19. He also listed out various schemes being implemented for farmers and other sections. Kurnool Special Correspondent writes: Minister for Marketing M. Mareppa said the credit of placing the agriculture economy of the State back on rails would go to the Congress government. Kurnool: Addressing the AP Formation Day function here, he said the government had initiated a series of steps to revive agriculture, including offering free power to farmers. In fact, free power was the first decision of the Cabinet. After that the power charge arrears were waived, crop insurance was revamped, inputs were supplied at subsidised cost and water supply was improved. Mr. Mareppa said he was proud to address the meeting from the very grounds where the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had announced formation of Andra Pradesh. He recalled that Andhra State was the result of the supreme sacrifice of Potti Sriramulu. Collector M.K. Meena, Superintendent of Police N. Madhusudhan Reddy, Joint Collector P. Venkatrami Reddy and others were present. School children presented colourful cultural programmes. The AP Formation Day celebrations assumed importance because of the demand for separate statehood of various regions in the state. Nellore: The Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day was celebrated on a grand scale in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district. Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Nedurumalli Rajyalakshmi garlanded the portrait of Amaajeevi Potti Sri Ramulu and paid tributes to the leader who sacrificed his life for the cause of Andhra Pradesh State. The Minister hoisted the national flag at the Police Parade Grounds and explained the development activities and welfare schemes being implemented by the government. Later, Ms. Rajyalakshmi distributed assets worth about Rs 38.83 lakh given by Indira Kranthi Pathakam, ITDA, Rajiv Yuva Sakthi, Disabled, Social, Minority, BC and SC Welfare departments, to the beneficiaries. Cultural eventsStudents of various schools performed cultural programmes at the Parade Grounds on the occasion. Children belonging to SVR, ABM, Government Sangeeta Kalasala, Narayana, St. Joseph, St. Johns and other institutions performed cultural programmes. and dances. Kids adorned like Potti Sriramulu, Bharata Matha, Jawaharlal Nehru and other freedom fighters attracted the public. Collector K. Ramgopal, Superintendent of Police B. Malla Reddy and officials from various departments participated in the celebrations.
