TIRUCHI: Eye catching handicrafts of Moradabad, exquisite brass items of Aligarh, handicrafts made of rosewood from Kerala and Karnataka, all worth over Rs.10 lakh are on display at the maiden North India handicrafts exhibition conducted by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited at its Poompuhar showroom in the city. The handicrafts from Moradabad on display included flower vase; brass lamps; kumkum ‘chimizh’; decorative wooden and brass wall panels; brass lamps etc. An array of collections made of rose wood is another attraction of the fortnight long show. The collection includes images of Lord Ganapathi, elephants, mandapam, wall panels, decorative furniture and kathakali pieces. The price of the handicrafts on display ranges from Rs.25 (small flower vase) to Rs.6,000 (Moradabad brass flower vase). The Corporation has fixed a sales target of Rs.3 lakh through this expo which will go on till November 15, according to the Manager of the Poompuhar Showroom, K. Chidambaranathan. The Principal of the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, G. Kalyani declared the exhibition open on Friday.
