Farm pump sets should not be used between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. There will be regulation for 40 minutes between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m.
MADURAI: Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has announced new regulations in use of power by different sections of consumers with effect from Saturday. According to a TNEB press release, the new regulations are intended to provide equitable supply and also not to resort to interruption in the night for residential areas. 40 per cent cutA 40 per cent cut will be enforced on demand and consumption for high tension industrial users and commercial establishments. It will be 20 per cent for low tension industrial users. Industries and commercial establishments using over 2000 units of electricity in two months have been advised to cut 20 per cent of their demand on consumption. Industries and commercial establishments with HT, LT and CT connections should not use power provided by the TNEB between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. as uninterrupted power supply should be maintained for homes and public places during the period. Three-phase supplyThree-phase supply will be provided for six hours in the day and four hours in the night for agriculture power connections. Farm pump sets should not be used between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. The TNEB will divide HT power paths into six segments and regulate power supply for two hours for each between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will be regulation for 40 minutes between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Use of welding sets is prohibited between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. The TNEB has said that it will not provide power supply for ornamental lighting, except in the case of temple festivals. ExemptedThe following essential services have been exempted from power cut: hospitals, government buildings, foreign embassies, railways, media, telephone exchanges, educational institutions, fertilizer factories and milk chilling plants. All consumers have been advised to avoid the use of decorative lamps and neon lights. Civic bodies have been instructed to switch off street lights when not required.
