‘Efforts on for early release of visas to Haj pilgrims’
NEW DELHI: The Central Haj Committee has assured Haj pilgrims who could not proceed with their journey on October 30 due to non-availability of visas that all measures have been taken for early release of their visas.
Haj Committee chairman Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi said here on Saturday, “Every possible effort is being made by the Government and the Haj Committee to expedite release of visas to bring normalcy of operations of the Haj programme at the earliest.”
He assured that under no circumstances would any prospective Haj pilgrims be left out.
“Necessary arrangements are being made to accommodate them on the earliest possible flight.”
Non-availability of visas on time had led to the cancellation of five flights on October 30 from cities such as Delhi, Lucknow and Srinagar. As per the programme, the Haj flights are supposed to take off from Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Srinagar, Varanasi, Jaipur, Patna, Guwahati and Calicut. — PTI
