Teacher faces sexual assault charge

Kozhikode: The Payyoli police have arrested a Madrassa teacher on a complaint that he attempted to outrage the modesty of an eight-year-old girl in Payyoli who had come for religious studies on Saturday. A. Moideenkutty, 30, from Kondotty in Malappuram district, was arrested based on the complaint by the victim.

He was charged under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code. The accused was produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate’s Court, Payyoli, and remanded in judicial custody at the Vadakara sub-jail for 14 days. — Staff Reporter
