Bishop Cotton, Chettinad Vidyashram win
KOCHI: Bangalore’s Bishop Cotton defeated Girideepam Bethany School, Kottayam, 62-59 in a thriller and won the boys’ title in the Choice Cup South India inter-school basketball tournament on Sunday evening.
The girls’ final was also close with Chennai’s Chettinad Vidyashram beating Bangalore’s Carmel Convent High School 36-34 for the title.
The results (finals):
Boys: Bishop Cotton, Bangalore 62 (Adeel Anees 30) bt Girideepam Bethany, Kottayam 59 (Lijin 29). Girls: Chettinad Vidyashram, Chennai 36 (K. Shruti 11) bt Carmel Convent, Bangalore 34 (G. Siri 11).
Special prizes: Boys: Lijin (Girideepam Bethany, most promising player), Adeel Anees (Bishop Cotton, top scorer). Girls: G. Siri (Carmel, most promising player), K. Shruti (Chettinad Vidyashram, top scorer). — Principal Correspondent
