Solidarity visit: Samajwadi Party MPs Jayaprada, Amar Singh and party president Mulayam Singh Yadav at Bhainsa in Adilabad district on Sunday. -

BHAINSA (ADILABAD DT.): Samajwadi Party president and Leader of Opposition in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Mulayam Singh Yadav on Sunday demanded a judicial inquiry into the Batla House encounter in Delhi and implementation of the Sachar Committee and Srikrishna Committee reports on the status of the Muslim minority community. He also demanded a CBI probe into the Vatoli incident of October 12 wherein six members of a family were burnt alive and enhancement of ex gratia paid to the victims of communal violence from Rs. 5 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh.

Accompanied by party MPs Amar Singh and Jayaprada besides MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi and president of the Assam United democratic Front Badruddin Ajmal, Mr. Mulayam Singh visited the scene of the Vatoli incident and met the kin of the ill-fated family. He also interacted with the families of the three persons who had died in the Bhainsa communal disturbances and Tuljabai who saved the lives of five persons .

The Samajwadi Party president said he will exert pressure on the government to institute an inquiry by the CBI in order to unmask the forces behind the Vatoli conspiracy. He was confident that such a move would yield a positive result because the UPA government was being supported by his party.

Mr. Amar Singh warned that if the majority community continued with a communal agenda the country’s unity would be under threat. He said it was the responsibility of all communities, more so of the majority, to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country.

Owaisi on Telangana

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MP Asaduddin Owaisi urged the Samajwadi Party to raise the Telangana issue at the UPA coordination committee meeting.

He wanted Mr. Mulayam Singh to impress upon the Central government the necessity of considering the opinion of Muslims in Telangana before taking any stand on the issue.
