Fire destroys huts in Kakinada

Kakinada: Nearly 100 thatched houses were gutted in a fire accident at Dummulapeta here on Sunday. Fire-fighters struggled to dowse the fire which engulfed this big cluster of huts on the outskirts of the district headquarters. Residents of the slum area claimed that up to 200 families were rendered homeless while the cause of fire was being investigated. District fire officer G .Yoseph and his team had to battle for several hours to extinguish the fire. However, there were no casualties or injuries . –Staff Reporter
