VISAKHAPATNAM: The ninth edition of the annual multi-city quiz for school children – The Hindu Young World Quiz – will be held at Chennai, Puducherry, Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Tiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and finally at Visakhapatnam, where the All India Final will also be held on November 13 this year. As usual, there will be a written preliminary round at each centre to select the six teams for the Regional Finals on stage, both of which will be held on the same day. The winning team from each region will be eligible to participate in the grand All India Final at Visakhapatnam. A large number of prizes will be awarded at every stage and certificates will also be given to all the participants. The Hindu will meet the cost of travel, board and lodging of the teams and for one accompanying parent or teacher from outside Visakhapatnam that qualify for the All India Final. The Quiz at Visakhapatnam will be held at the Port Kalavani Auditorium, Visakhapatnam Port Sports and Cultural Complex in Nehru Place on the National Highway no. 5 on November 13. The Quiz will start at 9.30 a.m. and the teams should report latest by 8.45 a.m. This will be followed by the All India Final at 3.30 p.m. Any two students, from Classes 6 to 9, can form a team. A maximum of three teams from each school using the three entry cards sent already to them, may be filled and sent back to Mr. T.V. Suresh, Regional General Manager, (telephone: 0891-2536159) on or before Nov. 6. After registering the entries, the top portion of the entry cards will be returned and the participants should carry the entry cards without fail. Photo copies of entry cards will not be accepted and there is no entry fee for the event. The Hindu Young World Quiz 2008, of course, is an integral part of The Hindu-NIE initiative.
