Many enter wedlock

Some 115 marriages performed in district under the Kalyanamastu


GUNTUR: Scores of couples tied the nuptial knot at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Kalyanamastu programme held on the premises of TTD Kalyana Mandapam here on Sunday. The weddings were performed on the auspicious ‘muhurtham’ of ‘Karthika Suddha Panchami Subha Mula Nakshatram’.

District Collector B. Venkatesham was the chief guest. Mayor Rayapati Mohana Sai Krishna, District Dharmika Mandali president Tadisetty Murali Mohan, Revenue Divisional Officer S. Venkat Rao, ICDS project director Nirmala Mary were also present.

The Collector read out the message sent by the Chief Minister and oversaw the wedding ceremonies. A press release said that 115 marriages were conducted at various places in the district. The TTD gave two golden ‘Mangala Sutrams’, silver ankling and a new pair of dress to both the bride and the bridegroom.

APSRTC, Guntur region, gave away couple gift cards to each of the couples, with which they could travel to any destination of their choice.
