Woman delivered of baby on train

ERODE: A 27-year-old woman gave birth to a girl child on train at the Erode Station on Saturday night. According to the Railway Police, Fatima, a resident of Chitoor, who was proceeding to Madurai in the Nizamuddin Express, gave birth to the baby when the train stopped at the station around 11.15 p.m.

The police said the woman, wife of Babu, a daily wager, developed labour pain as the train was nearing the Erode station. She had told her relative, Jamna, to take her to the toilet, where she was delivered of the child.

The police took the woman to the Government Hospital, Erode, where the doctors provided medical assistance. — Staff Reporter
