Appointment orders handed over

CHENNAI: Minister for Law and Public Works Durai Murugan on Sunday handed over the appointment orders on compassionate grounds to the dependants of those who had died in government service. Appointment orders to various positions in the Public Works department were handed over to 156 people. Since May 2006, 1793 people have been appointed to various positions in the department, according to a press release. That figure includes 545 assistant engineers and 1056 daily wage employees. The Department also plans to regularise the services of 100 other daily wage employees, it added. — Special Correspondent
