Nine arrested; 6000 DVDs, MP3 discs recovered

BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch police arrested nine persons allegedly involved in selling pirated DVDs and MP3s.

The police recovered 6,010 DVDs and MP3 discs, seven DVD writers, two computers and other material in all worth Rs. 12 lakh.

The police have arrested Suresh Kumar Jain (39), Arup Senapati (20), Rajesh Das (20), Arun Das (20) and Rony (20) from Kolkata; Lokesh, Venkatesh, Stephan Raj and Babu.

They were found selling these goods near Ram Temple Street in Ejipura, the police said.

Suicide

A 26-year-old woman committed suicide in her house in Kirloskar Colony near Kammanahalli here on Sunday.

The police said Lalitha married Manjunath, who runs a grocery shop, five years ago.

They had two children. On Sunday she was found hanging from the ceiling when nobody was in the house. The Basaveshwara Nagar police have registered a case. A search is on for Manjunath.
