Last date to submit entries for painting contest extended

Thiruvananthapuram: The last date for sending entries for The Hindu Young World Painting Competition 2008, presented by Lotte BooProo, has been extended to November 15 to enable more students to participate.

The entries should be in the form of a painting on a white drawing sheet of 26 X 27 cm size, certified by the Principal or art teacher of the respective school as the student’s own work and containing the name, age, class, school and residential address of the student.

They should be accompanied by two BooProo liquid-filled bubblegum mono wrappers.

The entries should be on any one of the following topics in the case of juniors (Classes IV to VII) — ‘Sports day,’ ‘In the zoo,’ ‘Flying kites’ or ‘Birthday party.’ The topics for seniors (Classes VIII to X) are — ‘Watching a stage play,’ ‘On a hill station,’ ‘Bandh/strike day’ or ‘Environment day.’

Depending on the centre which is nearest to the student’s place or where the student would like to come for the final painting competition, the entries should be sent to one of the following addresses: for Thiruvananthapuram — Regional General Manager, The Hindu, T.C.No.36/1946 (1), Airport Road, Vallakadavu, Thiruvananthapuram – 695009; for Kochi — Regional General Manager, The Hindu, Post Box 1971, NH Bypass Road, Vytilla Junction, Kochi –682019; for Kozhikode — Regional Manager, The Hindu, Post Box 1816, Ist Floor, “Shaaz”, Near Saradha Hospital, Kannur Road, Kozhikode – 673006.

The final competition will be held in three centres in the State — Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode — on November 29.

The selected students will be intimated individually and they should come to the venue at their own cost. The venues are: Government Women’s College auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram; Toc-H Indoor Stadium, New Toc-H Road, Vytilla in Kochi and the Snehanjali Community Hall, Kallayi Road, in Kozhikode.

The competition will commence at 9 a.m. at all three centres. The topic for the finals will be given at the venue.

Apart from first, second and third prizes, consolation prizes will also be given at each centre. Every prize winner will be given a gift hamper from Lotte BooProo. Participation certificates will be given to all the students who participate in the final competition.

The competition is being held in 14 centres across the country. It will take place at the remaining 11 centres on November 30.
