dated November 4, 1958: Saraswati Mahal library

Mr. C. Subramaniam, Finance and Education Minister, stated in the Madras Assembly on October 30, that a special and intensive examination was being made in respect of rare and valuable manuscripts in the Saraswathi Mahal library at Tanjore, as a result of which over 200 manuscripts had been selected for publication. Of these, 81 works had been edited and published in several languages from 1949 onwards.
