KIMBERLEY: Jacques Kallis hit an unbeaten 92 to lead South Africa to a seven-wicket win over Kenya on Sunday with more than 14 overs to spare in the second one-day international. South Africa won the series 2-0 after scoring 224 for three in 35.3 overs after restricting Kenya to 222 for nine. Kenya captain Steve Tikolo won the toss at the De Beers Diamond Oval. Kenya’s 18-year-old Seren Waters hit 74 off 115 balls against a bowling attack lacking regulars Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel and Makhaya Ntini. Waters survived the pace of the South African openers and the spin of stand-in captain Johan Botha before being bowled by Albie Morkel off an inside edge. South Africa lost Herschelle Gibbs early on for two runs to a superb catch at mid-wicket by Waters off Nehemiah Odhiambo. Hashim Amla and Kallis led the recovery with a 118-run second-wicket partnership. Amla hit 78 off 76 balls — his first ODI half century — before he got a leading edge off spin bowler Hiren Varaiya and was caught by Maurice Ouma. Kallis hit eight boundaries and a six in his 94-ball innings innings. Waters also caught AB. de Villiers, who was out for 28 off Peter Ongondo. South Africa won the first match by 159 runs. South Africa next has a three-match One-Day International series and two Tests against Bangladesh, starting Wednesday in Johannesburg.
