A daughter’s tribute to a legendary father

Bindi Sue Irwin will present a special show, ‘My Daddy the Crocodile Hunter’, on Animal Planet this coming Sunday.

NEW DELHI: Ten-year-old Bindi Sue Irwin will follow in the footsteps of her father, the legendary wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, in Animal Planet’s special show this coming Sunday.

Aptly titled “My Daddy the Crocodile Hunter”, the hour-long show captures never-seen-before footage of one of Steve’s last crocodile research adventures in August 2006 with Bindi assisting in some of the most amazing crocodile captures and wildlife experiences in the Australian outback.

The show will feature Bindi Irwin as a host as she takes animal lovers behind the scenes on a very personal and private look at what it was like growing up with her father, who was famously referred as the Crocodile Hunter. As the famed naturalist Steve Irwin tragically got killed by a stingray while shooting ocean reef, his daughter is determined to carry on his rich legacy.

The show is interspersed with rare home movies of Bindi’s birth, her early childhood, and behind-the-scenes on-location shots of some of Steve Irwin’s most exciting television shows and films.

“We are delighted to present ‘My Daddy the Crocodile Hunter’ as a tribute by Bindi Irwin to her legendary father Steve Irwin. Besides capturing the father-daughter relationship, the show portrays Steve’s vision, dedication and care for wildlife,” says Discovery Networks’ Rahul Johri.

Bindi, who is an ardent animal and natural lover, will share some of the anecdotes about how her dad taught her everything she needed to know about wildlife. This girl who has grown up besieged with animals lives on the grounds of the Australian Zoo that Steve Irwin’s family founded in Queensland.

A television personality in her own right, Bindi has been appearing on TV shows from the age of two and has frequently been a part of her father’s stimulating wildlife shows including “The Crocodile Hunter Diaries”.
