Aid for prohibition offenders

VILLUPURAM: The State government has earmarked Rs 8 lakhs for the rehabilitation of the prohibition offenders for this year. From the funds District Collector R.Palanisamy gave away Rs 6.65 lakh to 48 beneficiaries for starting self-help ventures on Monday. While 37 of them were given Rs 15,000 each for buying milch animals and bullock carts, 11 were given Rs 10,000 each for setting up petty shops, a statement from the Collectorate said.
